Jitter - Definition

Jitter is a measurement of the difference in ping times. If average ping tells you how long (on average) it takes your data to arrive, jitter measures how wide the swing is in ping. It is the average derivation from the mean transmission delay.

High jitter can cause later words to arrive to the person you’re speaking to before earlier words.

This leaves some words clipped or shortened. It can make the audio sound choppy.
