VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol and is the ability to send audio to another device using the internet. Traditional phones instead use a specific network of copper phone lines.
Because of this, VoIP is more scalable, provides higher quality audio, and can be cheaper to put in place as well.
The only notable upside of traditional landline phones is that they are always on, even in a power outage.
VoIP phones need the internet and are subject to power availability. Every network device in an office needs to have power to keep the internet running in a power outage.
