Nextiva (www.nextiva.com), an industry-leading cloud communications company, today announced that its CEO Tomas Gorny was recognized with the William F. McWhorter Award at the 2016 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation Awards presented by the Arizona Technology Council. Tomas was recognized for his outstanding leadership, community involvement, and dedication to growing the technology industry in Arizona.
The William F. McWhorter Award is presented by the Arizona Technology Council to an individual or organization that contributes to Arizona’s technology industry through relentless community involvement, leadership, visibility, and excellence in economic development activity.
Tomas Gorny is a leader in the Arizona community and technology industry. He leads by example, and is very involved in the day-to-day operations, as well as driving the overall growth strategy and product innovation for the organization. The technology companies he leads as CEO, Nextiva and SiteLock respectively, were named the two fastest growing tech companies in Arizona last year by the Deloitte Tech Fast 500 list.
In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Tomas is dedicated to bettering the Arizona community. In 2012, he founded the Gorny Foundation to improve health research, educational programs, and global advocacy. Then in 2015, Tomas spearheaded the creation of Nextiva Cares, a formal philanthropic program at Nextiva. Through this program, Nextiva partners with a different non-profit in the Arizona community each month for awareness campaigns, supply and monetary donations, volunteer opportunities, and educational efforts. Tomas can also often be found at speaking engagements around the Valley sharing his story, advice, and knowledge about business and the technology industry with other entrepreneurs and the Phoenix startup community.
“Tomas embodies the ‘lead by example’ philosophy better than anyone I know,” says Yaniv Masjedi, Nextiva’s Vice President of Marketing. “He is always looking for ways to give the people in our community more opportunities—whether its through job creation, funding for health research, or advocating for the Arizona tech industry. His generosity knows no bounds.”
