Nextiva Secures Government Funding for Job Training and Apprentice Programs

Nextiva Awarded $1,100,000 to Enhance Employee Training
press release | scottsdale, arizona | april 14, 2015

Nextiva (www.nextiva.com), the fastest growing cloud communications provider in the U.S., announced today that it has been awarded the Arizona Net New Training Grant of $1,100,000 to enhance its job training program and create a formal American Apprenticeship Program for information technology professionals, becoming the first Arizona-based technology company to do so.

The American Apprenticeship Program provides employees with on-the-job training, as well as related classroom and academic lessons to help them develop skills that will set them up for a lifetime of success. This strategy produces knowledgeable team members and increases employee attraction and retention. The Arizona Net New Training Grant provides the funds necessary for employers to create valuable and effective training programs.

Nextiva’s talented and dedicated team members drive the company forward and are a major factor in its growth and success. Prior to receiving this grant, Nextiva had a training program for new team members and continuing education courses for existing employees, but the funds from this grant help to enhance that program and provide the resources necessary to establish a formal apprenticeship strategy for long-term career success. In coordination with the Economic Incentives Advisory Group and Arizona’s Office of Apprenticeships, Nextiva is on its way to developing a world-class workforce and attracting the top talent in the state.

Today at Nextiva, new team members are given the opportunity to enroll in the two-year American Apprenticeship Program where they are required to complete specific on-the-job training tasks to be eligible for the apprentice certification. The funds from the Arizona Net New Training Grant will be used to improve new hire training classes and documentation requirements associated with the apprentice program.

"We are honored to become the first technology company in Arizona to be awarded the Arizona Net New Training Grant and American Apprenticeship Program," says Tomas Gorny, Nextiva’s chief executive officer. "We are dedicated to providing our team members with first-class training, and this grant enables us to take our training and education programs to the next level."
