What is Network Bandwidth?

The amount of data that can be sent from one point to another within a certain timeframe. It is measured as a bit rate expressed in bits per second (bits/s) or multiples of it (kbit/s Mbit/s etc.)

File transfer times can be different than expected because many files have their sizes displayed in bytes. A byte is 8 bits strung together. So it can take eight times longer than expected to move a file from one location to another.
