Latency Definition: What is It? How Do You Reduce It?

Latency is another name for ping. Latency is a measure of the time it takes a computer message to reach its destination and return.

High latency causes interruptions in conversation and overtalk. A user finishes speaking and it takes one or two seconds for the other person to respond.

The same party begins speaking again to fill dead air, but the other party has started. It can cause confusion and make conversations difficult.
