Setting Up Busy Lamp Field

Busy Lamp Field (BLF) is a service that allows Users to quickly determine whether or not other Users are on their phones. A light on the User’s phone indicates when another User’s line is busy. Administrative assistants commonly use BLF to determine availability before transferring calls. Call center managers use this feature to help them monitor their employees. Not all devices support BLF functionality.

  1. Visit www.nextiva.com, and click Client Login to log in to NextOS.
  2. From the NextOS Home Page, select Voice.
  3. From the Nextiva Voice Admin Dashboard, hover over Users at the top of the screen and select Manage Users.
  4. Hover over the desired User and click the corresponding Pencil icon.
  5. Scroll down and click to expand the Monitoring section, then click the Busy Lamp Field option.
  6. (Optional) Select the Enable Call Park Notification checkbox to see parked calls on monitored extensions.
  7. Select the desired User(s) whose lines are to be listed on the phone by adding them from the Available Users box to the Monitored Users box:
    • Enter the name of a User in the Filter available users field and click Filter to search for a User. Alternatively, scroll through the Available Users box to manually find a User.
    • Click the Plus (+) icon corresponding to the desired User in the Available Users box to move the User to the Monitored Users box.
    • Click the Minus (-) icon corresponding to a User in the Monitored Users box to remove the User line from being displayed on the phone.

NOTE: Users will be displayed on the phone in the order listed in the Monitored Users box.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Make sure the ON/OFF button is set to ON. If set to OFF, click the button to change the setting to ON.

  4. Click to expand the Monitoring section, then click the Busy Lamp Field option.

  6. Select the desired User(s) whose lines are to be listed on the phone by adding them from the Available Users box to the Monitored Users box:

    • Click the Plus (+) icon corresponding to the desired User in the Available Users box to move the User to the Monitored Users box.
