Transferring a call from a Cisco phone

Two transfer options are available during an active call:

  • A warm transfer (attended) allows users to speak privately with the receiving party before transferring the call. A warm transfer also confirms the availability of the receiving party.
  • A blind transfer (unattended) allows users to send calls to an alternate extension or phone number without waiting for an answer or confirming the availability of the receiving party.

To Transfer a Call:

  1. During an active call, press the Transfer button or the xfer soft key (varies by phone model).

NOTE: Soft keys are buttons that administrators can flexibly program to perform various functions, as opposed to buttons that are associated with a single fixed function.

  1. Dial the phone number or extension. On phones with the xfer soft key, press the dial soft key after entering the phone number or extension.
  2. Transfer the call to the receiving party.
    • Warm Transfer: After the receiving party answers the call, press the Transfer button or the xfer soft key (varies by phone model).
    • Blind Transfer: Before the receiving party answers the call, press the Transfer button or the xfer soft key again (varies by phone model).
