Physically setting up your tomato router:
The tomato router requires one single Ethernet cable to be plugged from the “Internet port” directly connected to the modem or gateway. The only other connection required is the power cable.
From a broadband internet service provider the modem will hand off an IP to the router automatically through DHCP.
Any other setup will require logging into the interface of the Tomato router.
PC : Identify the devices IP by running the command prompt
Press the Windows key (start button) > In the search bar type “cmd” then press enter > Type “ipconfig” then press enter > One field will be named “Default gateway” and will show an IP address> Open an internet browser and type the IP address shown.
Mac : Finding the IP address through the Network menu
Control click the wireless symbol in the top right corner > Click “Network Settings” > Cick “Advanced” > One field will be named “Default gateway” and will show an IP address> Open an internet browser and type the IP address shown.
Static IP:
If a static IP is required it will also require manual setup in the Tomato router. Bridging a gateway will usually require a static IP.
Obtain the follow from the internet service provider:

The static IP address they assigned you

Subnet Mask from their network

Gateway IP from their network
This information is required to be input directly into the Tomato router. Once logged into the interface click the “Network” button under “WAN/Internet” input the information obtained by the internet service provider as shown below
Once input click “Save” at the bottom right corner of the screen.
PPPoE setup:
PPPoE setup is only required for DSL internet service providers
Obtain the username and password from your internet service provider. Click the “Network” tab under basic and input the information as shown below.
