During the holiday season, many of us focus on family and friends, prepare our home for company, and reflect on the past year. Many people see it as a time to give to those less fortunate. This December, Nextiva Cares participated in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program for the second consecutive year. We are very proud to have doubled the number of toys we donated. We contributed over 400 toys as a company, which we hope brightened this holiday season for children in need across the local Arizona community.
Each year, the Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December. They then distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. Our Nextiva Cares program has expanded over the past year, and with that, we have seen more volunteers share the ways they choose to give back and what they would like to see Nextiva support in the future. Toys for Tots is a program our team consistently asks about and is interested in being a part of.
Jack Reyes, a member of Nextiva’s engineering team shared his thoughts: “I give to Toys for Tots every year because I grew up very poor, so I know how important this program is.” Reyes goes on to say, “This year, my contribution has special significance, in memory of my wife who recently passed away.”
The altruistic nature of Reyes and other members of the Nextiva team is something we are honored to share. Joshua Lesavoy, Chief Information Officer and Reyes’ supervisor, recognizes the caring nature of the team as well. He said, “It’s been another amazing year of generosity and thoughtfulness from our employees.” Lesavoy states, “Participation has been extremely high, and we ended the year with a huge effort from our team by bringing toys to over 400 underprivileged children. I am proud of my team, and pleased that Nextiva can bring smiles to so many faces during this holiday season.”
Nextiva aligns with Toys for Tots’ mission to help ensure all children throughout the United States get to experience the joy and wonder of the holiday season. The Toys for Tots program plays an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children. Through the program, Toys for Tots hopes to unite members of local communities together to support those in need building a better future for all.
Kelly Boyle, Inside Sales Coach at Nextiva spoke more on this: “Community engagement is a core pillar of our identity.” Boyle goes on to say, “I am always amazed that our company chooses to not only collect toys from our employees for the Toys for Tots program, but to also match our donations. It says a lot about the commitment the management and employees of Nextiva have made to help improve our society.”
The Toys for Tots Program collected and distributed 18 million toys to 7 million children in 2015, allowing them to receive a message of hope that otherwise would not have been there. This community action program took place in 782 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Over its life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Program has distributed over 512 million toys to over 237 million less fortunate children.
