How to transfer a call from a Cisco phone

Once on an active call, there are two options to transfer: a warm transfer or blind transfer.


How to make a warm transfer:

A warm transfer allows you to talk to the person who will be receiving the transfer before passing the call through to ensure the person receiving the call is ready to talk.

  1. During a call, press the xfer soft key. Dial the desired number (it could be an extension or an outside line)
  2. Press the Dial soft key (if you dial a 10 digit number, the call continues without having to press the Dial soft key)
  3. Announce the call (If the called party is not available, press the Cancel soft key to return to the original caller). Press the xfer soft key.

How to make a blind transfer:

A blind transfer allows you to send a call to an alternate extension or phone number without waiting for an answer or confirming the availability of the receiving party.

  1. During a call, press the right button then press the xfer soft key.
  2. Dial the desired number (it could be an extension or an outside line).
  3. Press the Dial soft key (if you dial a 10 digit number, the call continues without having to press the Dial soft key). The call is now transferred.
