First, notify Nextiva of your wish to transfer/port your existing phone or fax number(s) to your Nextiva account. To do this, work with your current Account Executive or simply email email@example.com with the porting-in numbers.
Once you have initiated the process, you will receive the proper documents (LOA) to fill out and start the port process. You will receive the LOA and an example form. This will assist you in filling out the paperwork. Complete the LOA and submit the paperwork, along with a copy of your most recent bill, to Nextiva via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by fax to 866-654-9150.
You will then receive a confirmation email that we have received your port request. Once we have a confirmation date the port will occur, we will notify you. Make sure you maintain your service with you current carrier until your numbers have been completed ported.
Important porting information:
The porting process can take 2-4 weeks to complete. Any issues with the paperwork or bill can delay the port process. During this time, you will have service with both Nextiva and your current provider. You are encouraged to set up your Nextiva phone system using the temporary numbers assigned to you.
Porting a number that is assigned to a DSL line can result in loss of your Internet connection. If you wish to port your DSL phone number, contact your current carrier and let them know so they can set up your Internet service on a different number. Or you can move to another high speed broadband service, such as cable.
